Common Questions Before Getting Started

What makes SAP Licensing Experts different from an SAP partner or reseller?

SAP partners and resellers have a commercial relationship with SAP — they earn commissions on licence sales and are contractually restricted from advising against SAP products. We have no SAP affiliation whatsoever. Our team are former SAP executives, auditors, and contract managers who now work exclusively on the buyer side. Our only incentive is your commercial outcome, not SAP's revenue.

How quickly do you respond to audit-related enquiries?

SAP audit enquiries are treated as urgent. We aim to respond within four business hours and can typically conduct an initial crisis call within 24 hours of your enquiry. If you've received an audit notification, the first 48–72 hours are critical — the data you submit in response to SAP's initial request will define the entire audit trajectory. Our SAP audit defence service includes immediate triage support.

Is the initial consultation genuinely free — what's the catch?

There is no catch. The initial consultation is free because it benefits both parties: you get an expert view of your situation, and we determine whether there is a meaningful engagement opportunity. We never charge for the assessment call. Subsequent engagement is scoped and priced transparently — typically a fixed fee or a success-share arrangement for audit defence engagements. You will see the full cost before committing to anything.

What information should I prepare before our first call?

The more context you can share, the faster we can provide value. Useful documents include: your current SAP Master Agreement and Order Forms, any SAP audit notification letters or LAW/USMM outputs, a rough count of named users by licence type, and a list of any third-party systems that interface with SAP (particularly relevant for indirect access risk). If you don't have these to hand, don't worry — our call structure is designed to identify the key risk areas without documentation as a starting point.

Do you work with companies of all sizes?

Our primary focus is on mid-market and enterprise organisations — typically those with 500 or more SAP named users, or those with complex SAP landscapes including integrations, RISE transitions, or S/4HANA migrations. We work across all major SAP products: ECC, S/4HANA (both Private Edition and Cloud Public Edition), RISE with SAP, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, SAP Analytics Cloud, and BTP. Can you help if we're mid-negotiation with SAP?

Yes — and this is often where our intervention delivers the most immediate value. If you're in active commercial discussions with SAP's account team, we can provide rapid benchmarking, review your draft Order Forms for unfavourable clauses, identify missing protections, and advise on how to challenge SAP's pricing position with evidence. Even a single day of expert input mid-negotiation can shift the commercial outcome significantly. Our contract negotiation service is specifically designed for this scenario.
